1. Information We Process
Depending on the features you use, we may process:
- account information, such as email address or phone number, verification status, account ID, profile name, avatar, login time, IP address, and account status;
- camera and connectivity information, such as device name, model, DID, AOVIEW AID, firmware and MCU versions, time zone, online status, battery level, network type, signal strength, ICCID, IMEI, cellular-module version, and binding or sharing records;
- app and terminal information, such as app version, device model, operating-system version, language, region, time zone, network status, device identifiers, crash reports, error logs, performance data, and security or operation logs;
- camera content processed when you request a feature, including live video, audio, images, event snapshots, event type and time, device-recording indexes, and access records;
- information you submit to support, including contact details, descriptions, screenshots, logs, and correspondence;
- permission-derived information described in Section 5.
The final published policy and app-store disclosures must match the released app. This list does not authorize collection that the app does not need.
2. Why We Process Information
We process information to create and secure accounts; bind and manage devices; connect cameras; show device status; provide live view, two-way audio, device-recording access, events and alerts; manage device sharing; diagnose errors; respond to support; prevent fraud and unauthorized access; maintain safety and compatibility; and comply with law.
3. Camera Content and Sensitive Information
Camera video, audio, precise location, and information revealing an identifiable person's activities may be sensitive under applicable law. We process such information only as needed for user-requested features and apply additional notice or consent where required. We do not claim ownership of your camera content or use it for unrelated advertising profiles.
Camera owners are responsible for lawful placement, notices, consent, and sharing. If your camera records other people, you may be independently responsible for their personal information.
4. Legal Bases
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, our legal bases may include performance of a contract for requested app functions; legitimate interests in security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and service improvement, balanced against individual rights; consent for optional permissions or processing; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. Mobile Permissions
We request permissions when you use the related feature, subject to operating-system controls:
| Permission | Purpose | Effect if Declined |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Scan a device code; take a support image or avatar | Scanning or taking a new image will not work; manual entry may be available |
| Microphone | Two-way talk and requested audio functions | Audio interaction will not work |
| Photos/Storage | Select an image, save a screenshot, or import/export a selected file | The requested file or image action will not work |
| Notifications | Camera alerts, offline or low-battery notices, account security, and system notices | Alerts may not be received promptly |
| Location | Device discovery or configuration, region, or time-zone functions where technically required | Related setup or identification may not work |
| Bluetooth | Nearby device discovery and setup | Bluetooth setup will not work |
| Local Network | Discover, configure, or connect to a camera on the same network | Local discovery or connection will not work |
| Clipboard | Paste device information, a code, or a link after your action | You can enter the information manually |
We do not intend to access the microphone, camera, location, or clipboard in unrelated contexts. If a future feature requires another permission, we will update this Policy and provide any notice or choice required by law.
6. Sharing and Service Providers
We may disclose only the information reasonably necessary to providers supporting device connectivity, P2P or relay transmission, notifications, hosting, diagnostics, security, and customer support; to professional advisers where necessary; to a successor in a lawful corporate transaction; or to authorities where legally required.
Service providers may process information only as reasonably necessary to provide the relevant connectivity, delivery, hosting, diagnostic, security, or support function and are subject to appropriate confidentiality, security, and data-protection obligations. We do not sell personal information for money or use camera content for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. International Transfers
To improve connection quality, response time, and service resilience, device-related information is generally stored according to the device service region: United States region data in the United States, China and Asia region data in Hong Kong, and European region data in Germany. If an account links devices in different service regions, related device information may be stored in more than one region. Limited cross-region access may occur where reasonably necessary for support, security, or system operations. Where required, we use an approved transfer mechanism, including Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum, contractual safeguards, or another lawful mechanism.
8. Retention
We retain account information while the account remains active. Device binding and sharing access ends immediately when the relationship is removed; related records needed for security, disputes, or legal obligations may be retained for up to 180 days. Login, security, operation, crash, and error logs are retained for 180 days. Customer-support records are retained for 90 days after the issue is closed. Recordings stored on a device are controlled by its storage capacity, settings, and user actions and are not, in principle, stored on AOVIEW servers. Event snapshots stored on our servers are retained for 6 days, unless law requires otherwise or the user separately saves them. At the end of the applicable period, we delete, de-identify, or securely isolate information that law requires us to retain.
9. Security and Incident Response
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to our size, systems, and risks, such as access control, authentication, transmission protection, logging, and monitoring. No internet or camera system is risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If an incident occurs, we will investigate, mitigate, and provide legally required notices.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know, correct, delete, obtain a copy or portability, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and appeal a denied request. You may manage profile data, devices, shares, permissions, and notifications in the app or operating system, or contact privacy@aoview.com. We may verify identity and authority before responding.
EEA/UK users may complain to their local data-protection authority. Canadian users may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or an applicable provincial authority. Rights vary and may be subject to lawful exceptions.
11. US State Privacy Notice
Residents of California and other US states may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, obtain portability, opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising, limit certain uses of sensitive information, and appeal, where applicable. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
We do not sell personal information for money or use camera content for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices change in a way that gives rise to an opt-out right under applicable law, we will provide the required notice and method to exercise that right before the change applies.
12. Account Deletion
In-app path: “Me → Account Security → Delete Account.” You may also email privacy@aoview.com. After any necessary verification, a deletion request enters processing immediately and is ordinarily completed within one business day. Deletion may remove access to devices, sharing relationships, alerts, and history and may not be reversible. Information that must lawfully be retained will be isolated and used only for security, disputes, or legal obligations.
13. Children
AOVIEW is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal information without legally required parental authorization. Contact us if you believe a child provided information without appropriate authorization. Camera owners are responsible for lawful recording of children in their environment.
14. Changes
We may update this Policy for legal, security, product, or operational changes. We will provide appropriate notice and obtain consent when required. The date above shows the latest revision.
